About Artistic Badassery
We believe creativity is a birthright, not a talent reserved for the chosen few.
We also believe the world is really freaking loud.
Somewhere between the opinions, algorithms, expectations, comparison, productivity culture, and endless advice about who we should be, it’s easy to lose touch with the one voice that matters most: our own.
Artistic Badassery exists to help us find our way back.
Back to curiosity. Back to play. Back to trusting what we know. Back to making things, trying things, screwing things up, changing our minds, following what lights us up, and remembering that there is no one right way to live a creative life.
Through our books, podcast, and courses, we bring together psychology, neuroscience, mindfulness, storytelling, ancient wisdom, modern research, and a little ridiculousness to explore one big question:
What becomes possible when we quiet the noise and fiercely trust ourselves?
Artistic Badassery
is creating a place to find out. No gurus. No perfection. No ten-step plan for becoming a better human by Tuesday.
Just
ancient wisdom wrapped in bacon,
a willingness to stay curious, and a community of
people brave enough to follow their own weird and wonderful path.
You don’t need to become more creative.
You need to remember that you already are.
Welcome to Artistic Badassery.
Meet Marni
Hi, I’m Marni.
I’m a therapist, writer, teacher, creativity coach, and lifelong student of what makes us come alive.
For more than 20 years, I’ve worked with people who are trying to find their way back to themselves—to their voices, their stories, their creativity, and the parts of themselves they may have quieted along the way.
I’ve also spent a slightly ridiculous amount of time exploring what actually helps us get there.
I’ve studied psychology, neuroscience, mindfulness, creativity, storytelling, flow, possibility, and ancient wisdom. I’ve interviewed some of the world’s leading creativity researchers. I’ve tried meditation, expressive writing, equine therapy, sweat lodges and lavender relaxation tours.
Having said all that, I was kicked out of the sweat lodge, fell off the horse during equine therapy and asked to leave the silent walking meditation. So, clearly, enlightenment has been going well.
But somewhere in all that seeking, studying, teaching, failing, laughing, and trying again, I discovered something surprisingly simple:
We don’t need to become someone else. We need to get quiet enough to hear who we already are—and brave enough to trust it.
That idea became Artistic Badassery.
Today, I write, teach, speak, host conversations, and create tools designed to help people quiet the outside noise, fiercely trust themselves, and reconnect with their wild, curious, creative selves.
I believe play is serious business. Curiosity can change a life.
Creativity belongs to everyone. And sometimes the deepest wisdom goes down a little easier when you wrap it in bacon.
I’m so glad you’re here.
